In mythology, Venus symbolizes pleasure without restraint. We tend to associate Venus mostly with love and beauty, but her domain includes all sensual pleasures, including luxury and indulgence. Material goods and finances definitely fall under Venus's influence. Because of their great wealth and how they chose to spend it, Christina Onassis and Doris Duke lived out their lives in the public eye.

Some women feel overwhelmed by financial matters. We want things now -- we love to shop, to buy and have nice things -- but we know we should save for the future. On average we earn less than our male counterparts, so we are constantly trying to make our income go farther. When we have children to think of we wonder how we can justify buying something for ourselves, especially if that something is not a necessity of life or immediately practical.

Part of our love-hate relationship with money comes from the dual nature of Venus' effect on the financial realm.

Venus rules Taurus and Libra. These Signs both foster an appreciation for the finer things in life, but they have different approaches to acquiring them.
